In 1981 the same book was
awarded a prize by the Greek Union of Journalists and
Authors of tourist Books (Member of the international
trade-Union of journalists and authors of books tourism
F.I.J.E.T.)
Three young girls spend their summer holiday in Monemvassia,
an historic fortress of myth and legend perched on a
rock in the sea in the southern Peloponnese.
The girls, full of the mystique of the place, roam the
alleyways and discover the secrets of the town.
Their senses alert and their imaginations at full flood
they cross from today and step back in time to live
some adventures in a Medieval town.

From
1970-1982 Angeliki Varella was occupied with preparing
reading texts for the elementary schools.
Through these texts she tried to teach the Greek language,
help the child communicate with the world, nurture their
emotions and imagination and open new roads of understanding
and cooperation between people.
Angeliki Varella says: «When writing school books for
the children attending elementary school I feel justified
as a writer. Each morning 200.000 children on their way
to school had my books in their bags. The school book
brought me into direct and immediate contact with all
children in Greece.»
