WOMEN'S LITERARY SOCIETY
PRIZES
Each year the Society awards prizes for the following
genres of children's literature: historical novel on
a subject from Greek History, poems for very young children,
travel novels, etc.
Since 1958 the Women's Literary Society has been active
in promoting children's books, which are based on Greek
everyday reality and reflect a faith and optimism in
life. Every year it organizes competitions on a wide
range of themes, with distinguished prizes donated by
publishing companies, private citizens, organizations
and others. To date some 3,000 children's books have
been submitted to the Women's Literary Society, of which
more than 250 have been awarded prizes, at the same
time creating a breeding ground for writers faithful
to children's literature.
WOMEN'S LITERARY SOCIETY
ANNIVERSARY
To mark its 30th anniversary, the Women's Literary
Society organized an exhibition from November 28 to
December 8, 1988, in cooperation with the Municipality
of Athens. The exhibition included more than 150 children's
books published, after winning an award in one of WLS's
30 annual contests for unpublished manuscripts, entered
anonymously. At the opening of the exhibition a two-day
meeting of lectures on children's books was held.

II. Diadromes (Routes): |
|
DIADROMES sto xoro tis logotexnias
gia pedia ke neous
(ROUTES to literature
for children and adolescents) |
A new (quarterly)
Journal first issued in the spring of 1986
The purpose of Diadromes is to contribute to
and facilitate research about children's literature, to
provide information on and serve as a guide to good books
for children, as well as to deal with issues concerning
the writing and teaching of children's literature. The
journal is edited and issued by a group of nine writers
and/or educationists, well-known in the Greek children's
book world.
With immense love, a lot of work and patience, the journal
Diadromes, conceived and realized by volunteers,
has been circulating since 1986, which is pretty rare
for a Greek magazine. It has a faithful readership, subscribers
who are interested in children's literature.
